More Curling

Some may be happy to hear this is the last of it. …

Just the men's finals to go. Sweden and Switzerland are playing for the bronze right now.

I haven't really said much about the matches themselves. Mostly because I'm no sports writer. Just to say I have seen some great curling from all teams.

I was starting to get behind the British teams, just because I'd been watching all their matches. That made it hard for me to know who to cheer for when the women met Canada in the last game of the round-robin. Britain ultimately lost, though they were already out of the finals due to a win by the Swiss. 😦

The British men then went out to Sweden after a tie-breaker game. 😦

But both Canada's men and women were through to the semifinals quite handily, having topped the leader boards. The men with an undefeated record.

Two more victories for Canada's teams in the semifinals meant we were headed for gold. The women had to settle for silver after a couple of errors in their final match, which went to an extra end.

The men continued to be unbeaten in their semi against Switzerland. In a few hours they'll play Norway, who have been raising more interest in their trousers that their curling.

"Borrowed" from here.

Come on, we can take those pants down.

What

  3. Me too. I had to go and do some errands. Hey, we just won a bronze in bobsleigh, gold in speedskating and gold in Snowboarding! Whoooot! :hat:

  4. The mullet is just a bit short. (Like his draws.)But that was bad luck for Norway, he should have had that.

Me neither. But she used it during the week, and the other commentator picked up on it. So every time the house started to fill up during a match it was a guddle. 🙂

  6. :eyes: This puts us in a tie with Norway and Russia for the most golds won at a Winter Olympics. And there's still one day to go.

  7. Forced to take the one. But I think it will be hard for Norway to make three, much less four.

  8. I have managed to watch the game at a sport bar. The Canadians played well, they deserve that gold

  9. No, I only saw a few minutes here and there. But I saw Parise's goal with 25 secondes left

I'm sure there are plenty in Canada! Me and my friends are a group of eighteen year old's hoping to try it out in the north. Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely

  11. chris m writes:Is there definitely nowhere in ireland to practice curling? Really enjoy watching it and just wondering if me, as well as friends, could play.

  12. It would be easier to find a rink in Canada, they're everywhere. Unfortunately, it looks like the nearest rink for Ireland might be in England or Scotland. Good luck. 🙂
