Be it ever so flooded

There's no place like home. 😦 …

It has been a very wet summer in Saskatchewan, particularly in the southwest.

Maple Creek and the surrounding area sounds like it has been badly affected.

Then, a week ago Monday, a heavy storm hit my hometown and it was flooded.

Another family friend forwarded on these photos in an email.

Besides the flooding, the town's sewage lagoon backed up into people's basements :yuck: Though the last I heard was that the water had receded and the clean-up was beginning.

But now Saskatoon is the latest flood victim. Where will it end?

  1. It's happening everywhere  Chicago burbs have had more severe weather over 4-5 days that I can remember. This week the forecast is for perfect outdoor weather. Hang in there, it will get better

  2. Sorry about that Mickey looks like a British summer although for once we are having it warm and dry

  3. Angeliki, I'm in no danger. This is all about 6000 kms away from where I am now. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ :star:Yeah Louis, I haven't heard specifics about damage but I'm guessing it's pretty bad. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ :star:I hope it will get better for them Carol:star: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ :star:Thanks hungry. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ :star:Thanks Cap'n. Ironically Ireland had one of the hottest and driest June's in years. Then the rain came yesterday and looks set for more.

  4. Yeah, I'd kind of forgotten about that, it hasn't been in the news for so long. 😮 Is it still affecting people, or have they gotten past it now?

  5. Its all down to the sewage getting into the floodwaters and contaminating everything it wets.Floors, carpets, walls, furniture all have to be gutted and replaced. Takes time and money and lots of both

    That must be awful. 😦

And the same thing is happening to those people in Canada now. 😦

  8. Oh gosh. That really is bad 😦 I cannot play the video for some reason. What programme do you have to use to run it?Did you hear about the tornado that struck a reservation about 200 km southeast of Saskatoon? Thankfully no one was hurt but it did some major damage. I know the prairies are famous for temperature extremes and all, but this much bad weather in such a short time frame seems ridiculously unusual.

  9. I use VLC, it's free and plays pretty much any kind of video. I didn't hear about that tornado. At the time of the flood there was a tornadoo warning around Diefenbaker Lake, but it didn't develop. It is unusual, though it's not the first flood the town has ever had.
